Khumb Mela, Hindu festival in Allahabad, India.
The place where the rivers Ganges and Yamuna meet is called Sangam and is one of the holiest places in India. Here the Hindus bathe every tvelve years to cleanse themselves from their sins and come closer to a release from the circle of rebirth. As many as 70 million people, maybe the largest gathering in world history, was gathered here in january 2001.
Just after the break of day there is an atmosphere of tranquility and peace on the riverbank.
