Lampedusa is a small Italian island located in the Mediterranean Sea, east of Tunesia. Known as the prime transit point for illegal immigrants from Africa and its white sand beaches. The island has no sources of water other than irregular rainfall, and the landscape is dry and rocky. Along the coast and at "The hill of shame" the remnants of the immigrants belongings are scattered.
